The Sheffield Ice Hockey Academy was formed in 1991 and has helped produce many Elite league and NIHL players. Most Recently Liam Kirk graduated from the academy and went on to play for the Steelers before being drafted into the NHL. Liam spent all his junior years at the Sheffield Academy before graduating into senior hockey.
We are uniquely placed as city having a team at every level of the hockey pyramid and are building on the relationships we have with both the Steelers and Steeldogs so we have a path for progression through all the teams. We have teams in the U9, U11, U13, U15, U18, U20 and NIHL2.
The aim of the academy is
- Create great skaters, with great technique and a never give in attitude.
- Organising, developing and promoting junior ice hockey, consistent with the aims and objectives of the English Ice Hockey Association
- Raising and providing financial support directly or indirectly for the benefit of ice hockey Academy and the Club in particular
- Encouraging and promoting a code of conduct amongst its members commensurate with, and including the Club Code of Conduct for players, coaches, officials and parents
